It was such an honor to be shortlisted for the Wilidlife Photographer of the Year People's Choice Award. Twenty- five photos were selected from over 35,000 photo entries for 2022. I wasn't expecting to be selected since this is such a tough contest and the fact that I have been entering this contest for many years only getting as far as a finalist.
When I found out the good news, my husband Knut and I decided to make a trip to the UK. We figured it would fun to see my photo in the exhibit. And since they merchandised my photo I wanted to see the items that were for sale in the museum store.
When we arrrived at The Natural History Museum it was packed. Being a Saturday both the exhibit and the museum were chock full of people. It was so cool to see my snowshoe hare photo on magnets, postcards, Christmas cards and mini prints. There was also a canvas wrap print hanging on the wall! How cool is that! I also met a lady that specifically came to the store that morning to buy some of my prints for gifts. She got a treat when she met me and when I signed all her prints. She told me the hare photo "spoke to her". That made me happy.
Well, I did not win this time. But my photo was printed in over 35 International publications! And people from all over the world got to see one of my favorite photos of a snowshoe hare.
Perhaps, one day I will make it back to the Natural History Museum. :)
